Blackjacks's Andy Grubb proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Blackjacks from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, Grêmio's Gildo Fantini got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 56 minutes into the match, Ted Hoogenkamp notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Blackjacks's Andy Grubb. Andy Grubb was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Grêmio's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Erasmo Dionísio in the 97th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grêmio fully deserved thier win.
