An unexpectedly hard shot by Elvio Iliana in the 21st minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Fondas Koufaliotis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gerardo Haritz fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Defensores del Tiki Tiki's protests and gave Gerardo Haritz a yellow card for diving instead. Defensores del Tiki Tiki's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sheriff the free kick. After 67 minutes, Alkis Bletsas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sheriff and the Defensores del Tiki Tiki players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th match minute, Sheriff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alkis Bletsas to maneuver through the defense. Paris Loukoumakis charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paris Loukoumakis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Angel Mantzio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elvio Iliana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Fondas Koufaliotis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fondas Koufaliotis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Satordi in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Stefanos Vrettos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Angel Mantzio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fondas Koufaliotis having to interfere.
