Gildo Donatello hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 20thth minute of the game Meti Gol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 27 de Mayo's Falcão Leme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco Bastos in the 24th minute of play forced 27 de Mayo's goalkeeper Falcão Leme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Meti Gol put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Falcão Leme. The supporters of 27 de Mayo booed when Independente AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caco Bastos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zézinho Rossi got free with Marcelo Paraibano in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelo Paraibano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélder Severo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39thth minute of the game Zézinho Rossi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independente AC's Marcelo Paraibano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Meti Gol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 56 played minutes 27 de Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Severo. 27 de Mayo made a substitution. Erramu Chute replaced Tiago Corrêa. Hélder Severo hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, 27 de Mayo's goal looked a bit too open when Meti Gol came free, but Falcão Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zézinho Rossi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcelo Paraibano having to make a save. Marcelo Paraibano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Rossi in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Independente AC's zone, Hélder Severo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Paraibano came out of the goal and Hélder Severo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Rossi in the 68th minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Marcelo Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Independente AC's Marcelo Paraibano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Rossi in the 72nd minute of play. In the 76th minute, one of Independente AC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Independente AC. 81 minutes into the match, Independente AC's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Rossi came free, but Marcelo Paraibano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Zézinho Rossi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelo Paraibano. Independente AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zézinho Rossi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Erramu Chute in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Paraibano saved Independente AC from getting behind. After 86 minutes, Erramu Chute made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Independente AC's Marcelo Paraibano tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 88 played minutes 27 de Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Alex Castro. Erramu Chute fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Paraibano having to interfere. Gildo Donatello's late challenge caught a 27 de Mayo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gildo Donatello helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Independente AC's Gildo Donatello got a free kick in the 96th minute. 27 de Mayo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
