In the 23rd minute of the match, Hermínio da Silva sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Waldir Moraes showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. 24 minutes into the game, Mané Salgado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Waldir Moraes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
