With a little luck, Energy FC's Woodrow Patrick got control of the ball when Jonathon Banning tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colorado FC's William Nordkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gregory Short in the 11th minute of play. After 13 minutes, Wally Covington made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Energy FC's Woodrow Patrick tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Colorado FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Mckinley Kline hit a great ball. William Nordkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David McKinnon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by David McKinnon in the 26th minute of play forced Colorado FC's goalkeeper William Nordkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Colorado FC's Wally Covington in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Energy FC's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 30 minutes, Sammy Dunbar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Energy FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Emanuel Rosenthal 45 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 4-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

The audience was convinced that Wally Covington's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Woodrow Patrick was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Wally Covington put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Woodrow Patrick. 61 minutes into the match, Colorado FC's goalkeeper William Nordkvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dario Steele. The supporters of Energy FC booed when Colorado FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mckinley Kline didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wally Covington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Woodrow Patrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that Colorado FC were the better team. Colorado FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
