The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rafa Senna hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 6th minute, Clóvis Travassos made a precise shot to the right of Falcão do Nascimento. Independente AC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Falcão do Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Umberto Pernambucano in the 9th minute of the match. After 12 played minutes Independente AC got a freekick which was hit by Juninho Brasil. In the 13th minute Cristiano Leme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Falcão do Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Falcão do Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Santana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Paulo Sousa in the 20th minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felipe Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão do Nascimento having to interfere. Zé Paulo Sousa scored 0-3 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Falcão do Nascimento, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Santana in the 32nd minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Don Bigotte hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Independente AC's zone, Felipe Santana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falcão do Nascimento came out of the goal and Felipe Santana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35thth minute of the game Zé Paulo Sousa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independente AC's Falcão do Nascimento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luiz Paulo Santana stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Clayton Gøl's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Clayton Gøl blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Paulo Santana having to make a save. Falcão do Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Santana in the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clayton Gøl to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Paulo Sousa in the 52nd minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Independente AC's Falcão do Nascimento got control of the ball when Umberto Pernambucano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Clóvis Travassos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Falcão do Nascimento having to make a save. After 76 minutes, Don Bigotte mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independente AC and the Litoral EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 76 played minutes Independente AC got a freekick which was hit by Don Bigotte. Falcão do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Paulo Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Zé Paulo Sousa took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Falcão do Nascimento to make any attempt to save it. Falcão do Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Felipe Santana sent off a good shot on target. Nildo Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Clóvis Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Independente AC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Litoral EC's performance. The match ended with a win for Litoral EC.
