The tension between the Clube Atlético-MS and the democrata players grew even worse after the yellow card. Elano Macedo hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Adriano Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edu Arce made a kick off. Pedro Paulo Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Edu Arce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 60th minute of the game. One of Clube Atlético-MS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of democrata:s goal. Clube Atlético-MS:s Lúcio Vieira showed great skill when he stopped Felipe Santos:s penalty. Felipe Santos scored 1-2 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lúcio Vieira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 67 minutes into the match, Pedro Paulo Pinho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lúcio Vieira, 1-3. The referee ignored Clube Atlético-MS's protests and gave Tostão de Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. 78 minutes into the game, one of Clube Atlético-MS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Loureiro got free with Lúcio Vieira in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
