With a couple of smart ball manuevers Márcio Neves in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agostinho Marquez saved Athletico Paranaense from getting behind. After 55 played minutes Athletico Paranaense got a freekick which was hit by Oscar dos Santos. In the 63rd minute, Nukengo SC's Valdemar Mello seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Valdemar Mello the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Nukengo SC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Valdemar Mello had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Athletico Paranaense booed when Nukengo SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Vladimir Berger fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
