The corner ended in Elano Quadros almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sonserinos's Roberto Leal did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elano Quadros in the 43rd minute of play forced Sonserinos's goalkeeper Roberto Leal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manoel da Silveira was the one to do the kick off. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Álvaro Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Roberto Leal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonardo Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Elano Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Leal having to interfere. 71 minutes into the game, Kauã Cerezo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sonserinos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Atlético Marrento the free kick. Kauã Cerezo hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Clube Atlético Marrento's Álvaro Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Sonserinos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto Leal should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Clube Atlético Marrento's Álvaro Salles got a free kick in the 93rd minute. José Pedro Xavier was shown his second yellow card after 96 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Giovani de Moraes charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giovani de Moraes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 97 minutes into the game, one of Clube Atlético Marrento:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 98th minute there was a penalty for Sonserinos. Manoel da Silveira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Sandro Reis. 2-1. Sonserinos's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
