Estrellas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Marco Tinoco scored to the left of an out of position Emerson do Nascimento, making the score, 1-0. The audience was convinced that Marco Tinoco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emerson do Nascimento was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Rogério Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gernando Marinho in the 27th minute of play. Xoio FC's Marco Tinoco got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marco Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Emerson do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Estrellas's zone, Natã Moreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emerson do Nascimento came out of the goal and Natã Moreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gernando Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emerson do Nascimento came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Xoio FC's Dênis Nunes. But to his dismay, Dênis Nunes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Marco Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gernando Marinho made the kick off in the second half. Estrellas's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Xoio FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
