The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Açorianos rs's Manuel Pirani got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Acare's Marcel de Amorim quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Manuel Pirani, made in the 8th minute of the game. In the 9th minute, Pedro Fantini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 13 played minutes Açorianos rs got a freekick which was hit by Gerson Sena. 15 minutes into the match, Acare's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Fonseca came free, but Albertinho de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Albertinho de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Açorianos rs's zone, Pedro Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raimundo Godoi came out of the goal and Pedro Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Acare's Pedro Fantini got a free kick in the 28th minute. Rafael Jacinto struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Albertinho de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Açorianos rs. Raimundo Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitório Galvão in the 33rd minute of the match. Agostinho Correia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 38th minute, Pedro Fantini made a precise shot to the right of Raimundo Godoi. Açorianos rs's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Acare's Vitório Galvão got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Açorianos rs's zone, Agostinho Correia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raimundo Godoi came out of the goal and Agostinho Correia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raimundo Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Fantini in the 45th minute of play. Acare's Vitório Galvão managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Evandro Maciel in the 47 minute of the game. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emerson Fonseca made a kick off. A collision led to Açorianos rs getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Valdir Botelho hit a great ball. Raimundo Godoi didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 55th minute, which inside left pole to 0-2. Raimundo Godoi made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Marcel de Amorim sent off a good shot on target. In the 61st minute, Açorianos rs's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Pedro Fantini fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Agostinho Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Fantini was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 66th minute. Acare's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 69 minutes into the match, Açorianos rs's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Fantini came free, but Raimundo Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the match, Acare's Pedro Fantini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Raimundo Godoi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Açorianos rs's Raimundo Godoi got control of the ball when Agostinho Correia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rafael Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Marcel de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
