The referee ignored Santos Madrid FC's protests and gave Róbson Vieira a yellow card for diving instead. Róbson Vieira kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Pureza's Laerte Tasso got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 9th minute Dráuzio Diniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Váldson Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Cícero Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jairo de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Santos Madrid FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Roger de Alcântara hit a great ball. Walmir Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Raí Senna was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The corner ended in Raí Senna almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Santos Madrid FC's Cícero Lucas did a great save. Dráuzio Diniz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Pureza's goalkeeper Virgílio Bueno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jairo de Brito. Jairo de Brito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Virgílio Bueno made a huge save. Dráuzio Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Virgílio Bueno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 minutes, Miguel Linhares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pureza and the Santos Madrid FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Váldson Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cícero Lucas having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laerte Tasso to make the kick off. After 83 played minutes Santos Madrid FC got a freekick which was hit by Walmir Fernandes. After a defensive mix-up in Santos Madrid FC's zone, Laerte Tasso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cícero Lucas came out of the goal and Laerte Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
