In the 6th minute Tadeu Saldanha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rubens Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeu Saldanha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Almir Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Lima having to interfere. Diogo Lima made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Matheus Brasil sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Jaraguá SC booed when Guiomar AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vivaldo Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guiomar AD's Rubens Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeu Saldanha in the 32nd minute of play. Almir Brasil was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. Guiomar AD's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Afonsinho Soares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd match minute, Guiomar AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Neves to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Jaraguá SC's Juvenal Rodrigues tried to score from far away in the 43rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Cafu Araújo fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guiomar AD's protests and gave Cafu Araújo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th match minute, Guiomar AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cafu Araújo to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tadeu Saldanha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudinei Neves hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Ruy Mota managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jaraguá SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ruy Mota was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 80 played minutes Guiomar AD got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Rosado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matheus Brasil in the 83rd minute of play forced Jaraguá SC's goalkeeper Diogo Lima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diogo Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Almir Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute.
