The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 21st minute, Duda Quirino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Renato Pinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 27th minute, Duarte Sabóia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 29th minute Ezequiel Cosme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Janne Schaffer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Pernambuco AD's zone, Duda Quirino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renato Pinho came out of the goal and Duda Quirino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Inside Job's Duda Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Geovânio Baptista's late challenge caught a Pernambuco AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geovânio Baptista helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, Inside Job was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovânio Baptista to maneuver through the defense. Magno Nascimento took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Janne Schaffer. Inside Job's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Duarte Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. After 42 minutes of play, Pernambuco AD's Ezequiel Cosme made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Janne Schaffer was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Pernambuco AD's Robinho Corrêa got a free kick in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ezequiel Cosme stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Pernambuco AD getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Magno Nascimento hit a great ball. In the 57th minute Elder Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 61 minutes, Elder Loureiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inside Job's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elder Loureiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pernambuco AD's Renato Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duda Quirino in the 72nd minute of play. Bernardinho Magalhães was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 76th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of Pernambuco AD booed when Inside Job was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovânio Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Neiva kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Duda Quirino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
