After 27 minutes, Sérgio de Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nankatsu and the FCSB São Bernado SP players grew even worse after the yellow card. Toninho Diniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Domenico Patout having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Jan Koller put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Domenico Patout. Domenico Patout came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Nankatsu's Toninho Diniz. But to his dismay, Toninho Diniz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Jan Koller struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Domenico Patout didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nankatsu. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

In the 54th match minute, Nankatsu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jordan Santana to maneuver through the defense. Chicão Ortiz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Domenico Patout made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Diniz in the 83rd minute of play. Ferenc Mester hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Jan Koller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Domenico Patout tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Toninho Diniz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Domenico Patout. That made the score 2-5 in the 96 minute of play.
