Severino Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celsinho Amaral having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Luís Fernando Dantas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Companhia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gela Guela Futebol Clube the free kick. In the 41st minute Severino Leme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celsinho Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

But to his dismay, Severino Leme quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. There was no doubt that Companhia were the better team. Companhia's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
