The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Douglas Perez advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-1 in the 13th minute. Serginho Vieira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cido Negri's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Serginho Vieira came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Climax FC's Cido Negri. But to his dismay, Cido Negri quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The Climax FC fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Climax FC's Cido Negri looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Blue Mountain State's Elano Senna got a free kick in the 30th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Ezequiel Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Climax FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezequiel Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Serginho Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cido Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cido Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serginho Vieira having to interfere. After having played for 41 minutes, Nabucodonosor Canturri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Climax FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nabucodonosor Canturri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute Cido Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serginho Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cido Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Climax FC's Nabucodonosor Canturri got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Cido Negri's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Serginho Vieira was relentless in the 48th minute of the game. The Blue Mountain State players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Climax FC were winning 0-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cido Negri made a kick off. A collision led to Climax FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Almir Santana hit a great ball. Cido Negri had several of the Blue Mountain State's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 59 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Serginho Vieira as he didn't even see the shot coming. Abel Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serginho Vieira having to interfere. Cido Negri received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Serginho Vieira came out and tried to block the shot, but Cido Negri slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 65th minute. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Cido Negri took a quick shot and it went in 0-7 without a chance for Serginho Vieira to make any attempt to save it. In the 79th minute, Cido Negri left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Climax FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. Hamílton da Mata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Blue Mountain State's Serginho Vieira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Blue Mountain State from getting a goal against them. The corner led to Climax FC's Abel Jacinto getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The referee showed Ezequiel Simões the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Blue Mountain State booed when Climax FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball.
