José Maria Freire shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Doriva Rezende struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Curitiba FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. 47 minutes into the match, Tricolor Fc's goal looked a bit too open when Dalmo Bueno came free, but Manoel Pirani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Tricolor Fc were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute, Tricolor Fc's Enrique França ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Maicon Peixoto. Maicon Peixoto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-4. In the 58th minute Doriva Rezende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoel Pirani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Doriva Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Manoel Pirani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Tricolor Fc booed when Curitiba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Régis Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manoel Pirani didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Erivaldo Messias went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score. In the 72nd minute, Doriva Rezende got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Evaristo de Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Maicon Peixoto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Evaristo de Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. Maicon Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evaristo de Mendonça in the 74th minute of play. Maicon Peixoto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enrique França in the 77th minute. Maicon Peixoto came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Tricolor Fc's Evaristo de Mendonça. But to his dismay, Evaristo de Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-5. In the 85th minute, Evaristo de Mendonça got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Evaristo de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Maicon Peixoto made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Evaristo de Mendonça sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th minute, Evaristo de Mendonça got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erivaldo Messias during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Curitiba FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Erivaldo Messias hit a great ball. Tricolor Fc's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
