Luís Gustavo Catarinense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 21st match minute, PAIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christiano de Lima to maneuver through the defense. After 25 played minutes VSKG Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Magno Barbosa. After a rather tough play, PAIA's Christiano de Lima got a free kick in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredão Munhoz in the 29th minute of play forced VSKG Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Luís Gustavo Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. PAIA's Paulão Bezerra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save PAIA from getting a goal against them. VSKG Esporte Clube's Washington Oliveira suffered a sore thigh after 44 minutes and couldn't finish the game. VSKG Esporte Clube's Gilberto de Alcântara was substituted for Washington Oliveira. After a rather tough play, PAIA's Vágner Oliveira got a free kick in the 46th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredão Munhoz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Jarbas Cabral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulão Bezerra was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 69th minute, PAIA's Vágner Oliveira seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Vágner Oliveira the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of PAIA protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Vágner Oliveira had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 68th minute of the game. One of PAIA:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of VSKG Esporte Clube:s goal. Gilberto de Alcântara hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. PAIA's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because VSKG Esporte Clube had won, even though PAIA had held more of the ball.
