The audience thought a goal was coming when Umberto Perez got free with Cipriano de Andrade in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cipriano de Andrade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Umberto Perez in the 44th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo José Ferreira to make the kick off.
