The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Doriva de Amorim the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Laje de Pedra protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Doriva de Amorim had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 17th minute, one of Laje de Pedra:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Laje de Pedra. Laje de Pedra:s Luisinho Martins showed great skill when he stopped Caio Palmeira:s penalty. 25 minutes into the game, Pucazeiro's Fernando Machado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luisinho Martins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Faustão da Mata in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luisinho Martins saved Laje de Pedra from getting behind. The Pucazeiro fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Pucazeiro's Faustão da Mata looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of Pucazeiro booed when Laje de Pedra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romário Baggio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute of the match Caio Palmeira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luisinho Martins showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Cafu Alves kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luisinho Martins. That made the score 3-0 in the 35 minute of play. Luisinho Martins was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Dráuzio Zanette capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dráuzio Zanette really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. 43 minutes into the match, Laje de Pedra's goalkeeper Luisinho Martins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Machado. If Dalmo Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Paranaense to strike the kick off in the second half. Dalmo Penha struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Moses Mos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laje de Pedra. Dênis Moreira charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dênis Moreira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
