The crowd rose to their feet as Rapid SA's Eliézer de Senna slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luisinho Martins. That made the score 3-0 after 30 minutes of play. When Vlajko Marotić came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Rapid SA fans jumped to their feet. Vlajko Marotić might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luisinho Martins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rapid SA's Faouzi Fergani was substituted for Allan Trevisan. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vlajko Marotić in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luisinho Martins saved Laje de Pedra from getting behind. After 74 played minutes Laje de Pedra got a freekick which was hit by Doriva de Amorim. Faouzi Fergani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Laje de Pedra's goalkeeper Luisinho Martins, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eliézer de Senna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute Rômulo Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Eliézer de Senna notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Laje de Pedra's Luisinho Martins. Luisinho Martins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Claudinho Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute.
