After a defensive mix-up in Dogelo's zone, Niceto Ihazintu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manúel Bento came out of the goal and Niceto Ihazintu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manúel Bento was a little too slow when Niceto Ihazintu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 2-0. If Marco-Antonio Ramiréz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Dogelo booed when Caatiba MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Neville Garner didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32ndth minute of the game Niceto Ihazintu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dogelo's Manúel Bento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Niceto Ihazintu ran back to his position shaking his head. Manúel Bento made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Niceto Ihazintu sent off a good shot on target. Frank Catarinense hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes, Lewis van Dijk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dogelo and the Caatiba MZC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Dogelo got a freekick which was hit by Lewis van Dijk. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Waldemar Burdzel to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Lewis van Dijk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dogelo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
