The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Eriberto de Souza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galo do Japi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olímpico FC the free kick. In the 3rd match minute, Galo do Japi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eriberto de Souza to maneuver through the defense. Atilla Açıkalın might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Geovânio Hoffmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Atilla Açıkalın ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 6th minute Atilla Açıkalın shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The throw-in from Pedro Luiz de Barros in the 8th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Galo do Japi's Durvalino Caca-Rato. Atilla Açıkalın sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Atilla Açıkalın blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geovânio Hoffmann having to make a save. 23 minutes into the match, Olímpico FC's goalkeeper Geovânio Hoffmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Atilla Açıkalın. Olímpico FC's Geovânio Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sócrates Silva in the 28th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Atilla Açıkalın got free with Geovânio Hoffmann in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 43rd minute, Cláudio Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olímpico FC's attentive Agnaldo Carneiro managed to snatch the ball when Belmiro Caca-Rato made a throw-in in the 45th minute of the game. The throw-in from Pedro Luiz de Barros in the 47th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Galo do Japi's Durvalino Caca-Rato. The Galo do Japi players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Olímpico FC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Atilla Açıkalın made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Galo do Japi's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after David Aiach fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 53rd minute Atilla Açıkalın shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olímpico FC's Geovânio Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Atilla Açıkalın in the 57th minute of play. Geovânio Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atilla Açıkalın, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Atilla Açıkalın had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilla Açıkalın in the 62nd minute of play forced Olímpico FC's goalkeeper Geovânio Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute Sócrates Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovânio Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Atilla Açıkalın in the 70th minute of the match. In the 71st minute Atilla Açıkalın shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovânio Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sócrates Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogério Ceni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Aiach, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After some careless play in the Olímpico FC defense, Sócrates Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Geovânio Hoffmann. The Olímpico FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Geovânio Hoffmann should have stopped the shot. Galo do Japi made a substitution. Sokratis Krak replaced Númi Fode. Atilla Açıkalın received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Geovânio Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the game, Sokratis Krak cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Geovânio Hoffmann was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Galo do Japi were victorious despite being under pressure from Olímpico FC for much of the match.
