The supporters of Kinlochleven booed when Mauchline was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Grewar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edward Archibald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Huntly in the 31st minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Angus Swanson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Terence McInroy. Kinlochleven's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Angus Swanson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Ivan Grewar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Huntly in the 47th minute of play forced Mauchline's goalkeeper Edward Archibald to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The wind increased when Adrian Huntly made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Angus Swanson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Adrian Huntly received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Edward Archibald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Max McLardy struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Edward Archibald didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kinlochleven. Kinlochleven's Terence McInroy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Kinlochleven from getting a goal against them. In the 63rd minute, Angus Swanson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Terence McInroy, passed just outside the right post. Mauchline's Ivan Grewar got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Matthew McKillop hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Samuel Low sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Max McLardy's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edward Archibald read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Kinlochleven's Terence McInroy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Kinlochleven from getting a goal against them. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by Kinlochleven's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Simon Carrick was slow to take the kick. During this time Mauchline's players had a chance to rest. Mauchline were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Kinlochleven's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Simon Carrick took the corner. Mauchline's Jim McGilchrist was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Terence McInroy in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Max McLardy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 80 minutes into the match, Adrian Huntly notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Mauchline's Edward Archibald. Edward Archibald was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Angus Swanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence McInroy having to interfere. After having played for 87 minutes, Ivan Grewar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mauchline's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivan Grewar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Angus Swanson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nicky McKindlay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Kinlochleven support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
