Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Catarino Brito in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marco Espírito Santo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Catarino Brito put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marco Espírito Santo. The supporters of MAL FC booed when SC Esmoriz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcísio Brandão didn't get a good kick on the ball. If José Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Esmoriz's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
