Nicolas Assunção started the match with the kick off. Rodolfo Ventura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aziz Hicab having to interfere. Saúl Toscano hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 10thth minute of the game Nicolas Assunção who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gimonde's Aziz Hicab was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 11 played minutes Gimonde got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Lessa. Valério Oliveira charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valério Oliveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Gimonde getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Valério Oliveira hit a great ball. Durval Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Sales, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gimonde's Xavier Lessa got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 27 minutes, Rodolfo Ventura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Redundo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodolfo Ventura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 29 minutes into the game, Damião Albuquerque cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Durval Maia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Redundo's Durval Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Sales in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute Hugo Sales shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Gimonde booed when Redundo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Pacheco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute Valério Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 played minutes, Gimonde's Cristóvão Sarmento shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Durval Maia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gimonde reached it. In the 44th minute, Valério Oliveira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Gimonde booed when Redundo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saúl Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Gimonde were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hugo Sales to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Cândido Pais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Valério Oliveira came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Gimonde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valério Oliveira couldn't finish the play. During the 60th minute of the match Valério Oliveira completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Valério Oliveira a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 61st minute, Valério Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Graciano Lage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Durval Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Saúl Toscano hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Cristóvão Sarmento made in the 66th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Damião Albuquerque however managed to control. Damião Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Durval Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodolfo Ventura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Ventura in the 74th minute of play forced Gimonde's goalkeeper Aziz Hicab to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gregório Brochado's late challenge caught a Gimonde's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregório Brochado helped the player get up and apologised. Redundo's Rodolfo Ventura got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Cristóvão Sarmento in the 87th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Redundo's Cândido Pais. After 87 played minutes Gimonde got a freekick which was hit by Graciano Lage. Rodolfo Ventura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saúl Toscano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aziz Hicab read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. The Redundo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Gimonde's performance. The match ended with a win for Gimonde.
