Jerome Woodman scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vince Heath, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Owen Hylton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 14 minutes, Owen Hylton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hemel Hempstead AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Owen Hylton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20th minute of the match, Owen Hylton tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Tomkins saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Owen Hylton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hayden Millman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Vince Heath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Owen Hylton struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Tommy Tomkins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hemel Hempstead AFC. Hayden Millman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vince Heath having to interfere. When Stuart Sheldon fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hemel Hempstead AFC's protests and gave Stuart Sheldon a yellow card for diving instead. Stuart Sheldon kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Vince Heath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerome Woodman in the 48th minute of play. After the first half RainbowCakes were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jerome Woodman to strike the kick off in the second half. When Owen Hylton came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Hemel Hempstead AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Owen Hylton couldn't finish the play. Hemel Hempstead AFC's Vince Heath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerome Woodman in the 57th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Stuart Sheldon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Tomkins. RainbowCakes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stuart Sheldon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Tommy Tomkins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Owen Hylton's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Hemel Hempstead AFC's zone, Jerome Woodman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vince Heath came out of the goal and Jerome Woodman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th minute, Owen Hylton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 84 minutes of play, Hemel Hempstead AFC's Gav Mahon made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Tomkins was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Owen Hylton sped through RainbowCakes's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tommy Tomkins. There was no doubt that Hemel Hempstead AFC were the better team. Hemel Hempstead AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
