The audience was convinced that Mattias Roebuck's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vince Heath was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 24 minutes into the match, Dag & Red's goal looked a bit too open when Owen Hylton came free, but Tim Alsford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dag & Red's Tim Alsford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Owen Hylton in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Mitch Coulson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dag & Red's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mitch Coulson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hemel Hempstead AFC's zone, Mitch Coulson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vince Heath came out of the goal and Mitch Coulson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Owen Hylton was the one to do the kick off. Mitch Coulson spun around in front of the goal 52 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Hemel Hempstead AFC's goal. Mitch Coulsons short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Vince Heath to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Phillip Clay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Vince Heath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Dag & Red booed when Hemel Hempstead AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stuart Sheldon didn't get a good kick on the ball. The tension between the Hemel Hempstead AFC and the Dag & Red players grew even worse after the yellow card. During the 88th minute of the match Gav Mahon completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gav Mahon a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Hemel Hempstead AFC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Gav Mahon hit a great ball. After 90 played minutes Hemel Hempstead AFC got a freekick which was hit by Owen Hylton. Jerry Grayson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Mattias Roebuck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 95 minutes, Mitch Coulson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dag & Red's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mitch Coulson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Mattias Roebuck came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Dag & Red fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mattias Roebuck couldn't finish the play. Dag & Red's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
