Stuart Sheldon's late challenge caught a Stocksbridge FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stuart Sheldon helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th minute, Stuart Sheldon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jonny Holmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dom Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute of the match Brendon Slator sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vince Heath skillfully saved the ball. Jonny Holmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Vince Heath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hemel Hempstead AFC's Owen Hylton got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Owen Hylton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Dom Bramhall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vince Heath showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trey Johnstone, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Trey Johnstone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Vince Heath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Owen Hylton in the 32nd minute of play forced Stocksbridge FC's goalkeeper Thom Rowling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stuart Sheldon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thom Rowling having to interfere. If Jonny Holmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Jonny Holmes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vince Heath was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. In the 48th minute, Gav Mahon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Owen Hylton to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute Trey Johnstone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vince Heath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stocksbridge FC's Trey Johnstone got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Stocksbridge FC's zone, Owen Hylton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thom Rowling came out of the goal and Owen Hylton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Owen Hylton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thom Rowling having to make a save. 65 minutes into the game, Trey Johnstone cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Vince Heath was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Owen Hylton came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Hemel Hempstead AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Owen Hylton couldn't finish the play. Frazer Brook hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute of the match Dom Lucas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thom Rowling showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Owen Hylton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Thom Rowling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trey Johnstone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Owen Hylton got free with Thom Rowling in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hemel Hempstead AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
