After 17 minutes of play, Wirral Town FC's Stewart Probert made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Russ Webster was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Timothy Power during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Timothy Power hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Micheal Goodman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knights of the Spring's supporters rose to their feet, but Micheal Goodman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Micheal Goodman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Tod Ingram made a huge save. If Stewart Locke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Russ Webster showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Seth Mabbutt, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 44th minute Stewart Probert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Russ Webster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wirral Town FC's Tod Ingram played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Micheal Goodman in the 46th minute of play. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dom Halliday to strike the kick off in the second half. Wirral Town FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Knights of the Spring the free kick. The supporters of Knights of the Spring booed when Wirral Town FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timothy Power didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Wirral Town FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jon Barnett came free, but Tod Ingram reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, Graham Osbon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Knights of the Spring's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wirral Town FC the free kick. In the 77th minute, Graham Osbon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stewart Locke's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Russ Webster read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Seth Mabbutt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Russ Webster made a huge save. If Seth Mabbutt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 94 minutes into the match, Knights of the Spring's goal looked a bit too open when Stewart Locke came free, but Russ Webster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Knights of the Spring's Russ Webster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stewart Locke in the 96th minute of play. Wirral Town FC played a much better game than Knights of the Spring and deserved their victory. The Knights of the Spring players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
