Sergey Shevchenko scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mikhail Bayuskin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Bratsk HC's Ruslan Keleberdinskiy got a free kick in the 13th minute. When Boris Gusev fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Shakhtar Donetsk's protests and gave Boris Gusev a yellow card for diving instead. Boris Gusev hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Stanislav Chernov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Igor Grivtsov made a huge save. After 16 minutes of play, Bratsk HC's Ruslan Keleberdinskiy made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Igor Grivtsov was left in no man's land by his defense there! Igor Grivtsov came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Bratsk HC's Ruslan Keleberdinskiy. But to his dismay, Ruslan Keleberdinskiy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. When Efim Elgarov fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Shakhtar Donetsk's protests and gave Efim Elgarov a yellow card for diving instead. After 24 played minutes FC Shakhtar Donetsk got a freekick which was hit by Efim Elgarov. Bratsk HC's Stanislav Chernov got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, FC Shakhtar Donetsk's goal looked a bit too open when Rudolf Ovchinnikov came free, but Igor Grivtsov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mikhail Bayuskin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergey Shevchenko in the 34th minute of play. Oleg Mishin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the game, Sergey Shevchenko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Mikhail Bayuskin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oleg Mishin to make the kick off. Mikhail Bayuskin came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Oleg Mishin. But to his dismay, Oleg Mishin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Oleg Mishin in the 59thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mikhail Bayuskin, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 60th minute, one of Bratsk HC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bratsk HC. The goalkeeper, Mikhail Bayuskin, was totally fooled by FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Rudolf Hubaev, who 62 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 67 minutes into the match, Bratsk HC's goal looked a bit too open when Sergey Shevchenko came free, but Mikhail Bayuskin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oleg Mishin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of Mikhail Bayuskin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Sergey Shevchenko got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 76 minutes, Ruslan Keleberdinskiy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bratsk HC and the FC Shakhtar Donetsk players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bratsk HC's Mikhail Bayuskin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Bratsk HC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Sergey Shevchenko managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Sergey Shevchenko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mikhail Bayuskin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd minute, Denis Bakhtiev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Shakhtar Donetsk's goalkeeper Igor Grivtsov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A hard shot 99 in the game by Oleg Mishin from a close distance when the talented Mikhail Bayuskin managed to make a qualified save. Bratsk HC's players were relieved. FC Shakhtar Donetsk played a much better game than Bratsk HC and deserved their victory. The Bratsk HC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
