Horacio Diegotxe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Svali Bollason in the 21st minute of the match. Svali Bollason's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Horacio Diegotxe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Svali Bollason sped through PIRIPERI FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Horacio Diegotxe. In the 32nd minute, Reco-Reco Uberlândia's Svali Bollason ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Horacio Diegotxe. Horacio Diegotxe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Dedé Gaspar might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Horacio Diegotxe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dedé Gaspar ran back to his position shaking his head. Reco-Reco Uberlândia's Svali Bollason was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 35th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Horacio Diegotxe had great luck who in the 38thth minute grab hold of the ball when Svali Bollason from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Cipriano de Toledo scored 5-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Horacio Diegotxe, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The wind increased when Orlando Lucas made the kick off in the second half. If Svali Bollason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Dedé Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reco-Reco Uberlândia's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedé Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horacio Diegotxe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, PIRIPERI FC's Luís Fábio Britto got a free kick in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Svali Bollason in the 58th minute of play forced PIRIPERI FC's goalkeeper Horacio Diegotxe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Svali Bollason cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Horacio Diegotxe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in PIRIPERI FC's zone, Dedé Gaspar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horacio Diegotxe came out of the goal and Dedé Gaspar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reco-Reco Uberlândia's Robinho Falcão was substituted for Neymar Mané. A sloppy throw-in by Gernando Pinheiro in the 67th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Reco-Reco Uberlândia's Dedé Gaspar. Rui Dionísio hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, PIRIPERI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Svali Bollason came free, but Horacio Diegotxe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Svali Bollason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Reco-Reco Uberlândia made a substitution. Cipriano França replaced Gilmar Prestes. In the 82nd minute, Rui Dionísio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Reco-Reco Uberlândia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. After a rather tough play, PIRIPERI FC's Frank Carioca got a free kick in the 88th minute. 92 minutes into the match, Rui Dionísio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horacio Diegotxe. PIRIPERI FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rui Dionísio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. Reco-Reco Uberlândia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
