An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Marceau in the 3rd minute of play forced Indonesia's goalkeeper Haji Sarap to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Grave recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 8th minute, Arvin Sutrisna made a precise shot to the right of Bart Basson. France's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The supporters of France booed when Indonesia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Parto Harmoko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haji Sarap showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pacôme Daire in the 17th minute of the match. After 18 minutes, Arthur Geneste mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the France and the Indonesia players grew even worse after the yellow card. Arvin Sutrisna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Bart Basson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Arvin Sutrisna cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Bart Basson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 26th minute, Arvin Sutrisna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind France's goalkeeper Bart Basson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Haji Sarap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pacôme Daire in the 30th minute of play. France's Bart Basson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arvin Sutrisna in the 37th minute of play. After some careless play in the Indonesia defense, Alexandre Grave kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Haji Sarap. The Indonesia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Haji Sarap should have stopped the shot. 44 minutes into the match, France's goal looked a bit too open when Arvin Sutrisna came free, but Bart Basson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arvin Sutrisna to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Indonesia's goal looked a bit too open when Pacôme Daire came free, but Haji Sarap reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Indonesia's Haji Sarap got control of the ball when Robin Clauzel tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabrice Féral in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Haji Sarap saved Indonesia from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Arvin Sutrisna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Indonesia's supporters rose to their feet, but Arvin Sutrisna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bart Basson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Indonesia's Haji Sarap proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Indonesia from getting a goal against them. 64 minutes into the match, France's goal looked a bit too open when Ricky Hasudungan came free, but Bart Basson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute Ricky Hasudungan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bart Basson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 71st minute Pacôme Daire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haji Sarap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arvin Sutrisna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bart Basson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Arvin Sutrisna put it in 3-2 from a short distance just to the right of Bart Basson. 82 minutes into the match, France's Bruno Marceau sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Haji Sarap narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ricky Hasudungan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Bart Basson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Indonesia's Marsilam Sangaji was substituted for Arvin Sutrisna. Haji Sarap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Marceau in the 87th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harold Combettes in the 91st minute of play forced Indonesia's goalkeeper Haji Sarap to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harold Combettes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Haji Sarap read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Indonesia fans cheered their team off the field, for while France had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
