The Bolivia fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Bolivia's Diego Cabrera looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Bolivia's Vasco Abadia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateo Cuenca in the 15th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Diego Cabrera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bolivia's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Cabrera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Murillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vasco Abadia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Rufo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vasco Abadia made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Osvaldo Bonifaco sent off a good shot on target. Miguel Furtado hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Rufo Abalos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Bolivia's Vasco Abadia got control of the ball when Héctor Adomaitis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mateo Cuenca in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vasco Abadia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Bolivia made a substitution. Ignatius Abancens replaced Rufo Abalos. Mexico made a substitution. Murillo Cedeno replaced Erubiel Rufo. Mexico's Andres-Sebastian Guardado was substituted for Mateo Cuenca. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andres-Sebastian Guardado to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Ignatius Abancens came free, but Richard Murillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 54 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Esiquio Abancens who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Bolivia's corner Esiquio Abancens fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Richard Murillo quite easily take care of the ball. Vasco Abadia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres-Sebastian Guardado, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Edgar Olivares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Murillo having to interfere. Bolivia made a substitution. Eduardo Villegas replaced Ricardo Fontana. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Teofilo Mikeldi hit a great ball. In the 66th minute of the game Salvino Aballe made a throw-in which Gelmiro Abella played forward. Richard Murillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Cabrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diego Cabreras short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Richard Murillo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience was convinced that Andres-Sebastian Guardado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasco Abadia was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. 89 minutes into the match, Bolivia's Horacio Abaurre sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richard Murillo narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
